Confirmation & Nurture
Confirmation: Adults and Juniors
Confirmation is administered by a Bishop. This sacrament brings a strengthening in the gifts of the Holy Spirit, and is the most usual route by which members of the Church of England are admitted to Holy Communion.
A confirmation service takes place in one of our churches each year.
Those to be confirmed prepare for this by attending confirmation
preparation groups; there is a group for adults and a group for children
aged 11 and older (last year's junior group shown right). The groups start
with the very basics of Christianity,
and are a time for discussion, teaching, and sharing of ideas. Younger
children may be admitted to communion before confirmation, and we run a
course to prepare them for this important step.
Please get in touch to discuss confirmation.
Growing as Christians
Our growth as Christians doesn't stop with confirmation. Across the Benefice we often hold series of discussion groups and courses, especially in Advent and Lent. These are advertised in the HUB parish newsheet as they occur.
For those new to church who'd like to find out more, we offer a chance to discuss Jesus' teachings which we called Stepping Stones.
Spiritual Direction
Oxford Diocese's SPI-DIR initiative can help you find a spiritual director, or "soul friend", with whom you can meet regularly to discuss your spiritual life.
