Holy Baptism
Baptism (also called christening) is the sacrament that brings new members into God's Church. A baptism is always a joyful occasion, for the Church as well as for the family. Baptism is most often administered to infants, but anyone who has not been baptized as a child may be baptized in later life.
Baptisms take place during the main Sunday morning services in each of our churches. Bookings for baptisms can be made at the Benefice Centre office on Saturday mornings between 9am and 11am-- no appointment is necessary. Enquiries can be made by phone on 01235 850267. No charge is made for baptism. Most families choose three godparents, all of whom must themselves have been baptized.
When you have booked your baptism, someone from our team of baptism visitors will arrange to call. They will talk you through the service and probably also watch a short video with you which helps to explain the meaning of this sacrament.
Thanksgiving for the Birth of a Child
Sometimes, families decide that baptism isn't right for them, but they still want to thank God for the birth of a new child. We are pleased to be able to offer a service of Thanksgiving for the Birth of a Child in these circumstances.
